The department of chemistry was established in the year of 2018 under the SRICT
Institute of Science and Research on the footsteps of reputed and quality education
based institute SRICT. Department of Chemistry started with the post-graduation
course in organic chemistry (M.Sc.). After the successful journey of decades now,
SRICT is a part of UPL University of Sustainable Technology. Now under the umbrella
of UPL University, SRICT and SRICT-ISR both are included.
The Department of Chemistry at SRICT-ISR offers a comprehensive B.Sc. Chemistry
Honours program, designed in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP)
2020. This program aims to provide students with a strong foundation in chemical
principles, theories, and practices, while fostering skills such as problem solving,
communication, and collaboration.
The program objectives are to provide students with a comprehensive understanding
of chemical concepts, theories, and principles, develop practical skills in laboratory
techniques, instrumentation, and data analysis, foster critical thinking, problem-solving,
and communication skills, and prepare students for careers in chemistry and related
fields, as well as for higher education and research.
Graduates of the B.Sc. Chemistry Honours program can pursue a wide range of career
opportunities, including Research and Development (R&D) in industries such as pharmaceuticals,
materials science, and energy, Quality Control and Assurance in industries such
as food, cosmetics, and environmental monitoring, teaching and education in schools,
colleges, and universities, government jobs in departments such as environmental
science, public health, and forensic science, and higher education and research
in chemistry and related fields.
The program highlights include interdisciplinary learning, incorporating concepts
from physics, biology, and mathematics, emphasis on hands-on training, laboratory
work, and project-based learning, opportunities for internships, research projects,
and industry collaborations, highly qualified faculty members with expertise in
various areas of chemistry, and state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and equipment.
Join our B.Sc. Chemistry Honours program and embark on a journey of discovery, exploration,
and growth in the fascinating field of chemistry!

Program Outcomes
PO-1: Critical Thinking
The course curriculum assists learners in the development of critical thinking skills
as well as the planning, execution, documentation, and analysis of chemical synthesis
and productions. Students will be able to think critically and apply a comprehensive
approach based on evidences to explain theoretical and practical chemistry.
PO-2: Problem Solving
The learners will be equipped to solve problems of a numerical, synthetic, and analytical
nature that are best approached with critical thinking. They are expected to troubleshoot
industry-oriented problems by applying the fundamental concepts.
PO-3: Effective Communication
The course curriculum incorporates basics and advanced training to develop communication
skills to make the student capable of expressing the subject through technical writing
as well as oral presentation.
PO-4: Research Orientation
Chemistry graduates are expected to be well trained with modern and sophisticated
equipment and techniques in various disciplines of chemistry.
PO-5: Digitally literate
Graduates are expected to use e-learning tools to develop their core competencies.
Through digital literacy, they shall gain knowledge of understanding and analyzing
data, using library research tools, chemistry software and related computational
analysis.
PO-6: Sustainability
The course curriculum is designed to teach the student green routes for the synthesis
of chemical compounds and leading towards clean technology and sustainable development.
Being Chemistry students they shall be familiar with various pollutants, their sources
and their impact on eco-system, thus developing in them a sensible approach for
protection and conservation of environment.
PO-7: Career Opportunities
Learners shall be equipped to produce new information that will lead to entrepreneurship
and creativity and make them employable in a variety of fields, including corporate,
public, and research sectors.
PO-8: Ethical awareness
The learner requires understating and developing ethical awareness which is adequately
provided through the course curriculum. Students shall also be aware of impact of
chemistry on society, environment and shall also play a vital role in development
outside the scientific community.
PO-9: Self-Directed and Life Long Learning
Strong conceptual framework in the subject along with the skills of teamwork, analytical
reasoning, problem solving and critical thinking shall make the students lifelong
learners.
