This certificate course is helpful for Chemical plant operators of chemical industries.
It gives technical knowledge of application of chemical engineering in chemical
sectors.
The syllabus includes chemical engineering concepts, safety and soft skill, networking,
sustainability etc. This course will be beneficial for our students to get placement
in Chemical industries as well.
Course prerequisites and exemptions
Due to the level of technical content, the general requirement is
• 10th with 5 years of experience/12thwith 3 years Experience/ Dloma/B.Sc./M.Sc.

Assessment
One End Semester Examination will be conducted after completion of the course. The
successful students will be awarded the certificate of course completion.

Unit Processes and Unit Operation: Chemical Process Calculations, Fluid Mechanics,
Mechanical Operations, Mass Transfer, Chemical Reaction Engineering, Heat Transfer.
Safety and Permit Induction Training: Elaboration on Induction training and
terminology, Meaning of Hazard, Types of Hazards, Accidents, Incidents and Near-miss
Incidences, emergencies. MSDS. Main points of the MSDS. Fire triangle, and prevention
of the fire. Types of fires, Firefighting. Green rules and Red Rules. PPEs used
in Chemical Industry, and Special PPEs Emergency, Preparedness to handle, emergencies,
MOCK Drill etc. Occupational Safety and Process Safety. Electrical Safety, Static
Electricity and Concept of Flameproof enclosures, Permit Systems. Housekeeping and
5S program. Role of operator in chemical plant, Loading and unloading operations,
Standard Operating Procedure in industry, Worker benefits under various acts.
Hardware (Basics) in Chemical Plant: List of Major Equipment used in Chemical
Plants. Working Principles of the Equipment. Equipment of Choice for different Operations.
MOC (Maternal of Construction) Piping and Fittings. Utilities (Electricity, Steam,
Cooling water, Chilled water, Brine and Nitrogen)
Basics of Instrumentation: Indicating Instruments, Alarms, Controllers, Interlocks,
Brief on hardware involved.
Sustainable Technology: Pillars of sustainability, Sustainable development,
Global environmental issues-climate change and global warming, Carbon footprint
and trading,
Clean energy sources, clean energy sources-solar, wind, bio-fuels. Basics of Computer
and Networking: Basics of Computer, MS Office, Computer Network and Internet,
Digital handling, Digital logbook.
Soft skills: Report writing, Email writing, Facing Interviews, Motivational
Training.
