The Department of Microbiology was established under SRICT Institute of Science
and Research with a vision to impart quality education and practical skills in the
field of life sciences. Since its inception, the department has been dedicated to
fostering a research-driven learning environment. With the transition of SRICT into
UPL University of Sustainable Technology, both SRICT and SRICT-ISR now operate under
one umbrella, offering enhanced academic and research opportunities.
The Department of Microbiology at SRICT-ISR offers a comprehensive M.Sc. Microbiology
program, aimed at providing in-depth knowledge of microorganisms and their applications
in health, environment, agriculture, and industry. The program emphasizes molecular
biology, immunology, microbial genetics, industrial microbiology, and environmental
biotechnology, equipping students with the knowledge and technical skills required
in modern microbiological practices.
The objectives of the program are to provide students with advanced theoretical
and practical understanding of microbiology, enhance their research aptitude, develop
analytical and critical thinking skills, and prepare them for careers in research,
industry, healthcare, academics, and allied sectors.
Graduates of the M.Sc. Microbiology program can pursue careers in various sectors
such as clinical diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, food and dairy industries, environmental
monitoring, agriculture, biotechnology, research institutions, and government laboratories.
The program also lays a strong foundation for students aspiring to pursue doctoral
studies or engage in entrepreneurship in biotechnology and microbiology-based ventures.
