Refresher Course on “Energy Efficient and Sustainable Chemical Manufacturing
Description
The Department of Chemical Engineering successfully organised a one-day refresher course to promote energy optimization and sustainable manufacturing practices while strengthening industry–institute collaboration. The program was graced by Mr. A. I. Shaikh as the Chief Guest, who also delivered a valuable technical session highlighting the importance of energy-efficient and environmentally responsible practices in the chemical industry. Technical sessions were further delivered by Mr. Jay Mehta (Senior Energy Analyst – Technology & Innovation, UPL – Jhagadia) on clean energy solutions and digital monitoring systems for improved industrial performance, and Mr. Surajkant Tiwari (Head – Sustainability, GFL, Vadodara) on ESG readiness and sustainable transition strategies. The deliberations focused on energy management, process optimization, regulatory compliance, and cleaner production technologies. The interactive discussions provided practical insights for plant-level implementation. The program concluded with encouraging feedback, reinforcing the importance of academia–industry collaboration in advancing sustainable chemical manufacturing.
