The Chemical Engineering Department at Shroff S.R. Rotary Institute of Chemical
Technology (SRICT), formerly affiliated with Gujarat Technological University and
now a constituent of UPL University of Sustainable Technology since 2021, was established
in 2011 with a vision to achieve excellence in chemical engineering education by
providing an effective teaching–learning experience that prepares students to become
leading professionals capable of addressing global challenges. The department offers
Diploma, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. programs that integrate strong theoretical
foundations with practical and industrial exposure.
Aligned with the National Education Policy, the curriculum emphasizes quality teaching
- learning, outcome-based education, and multidisciplinary skills. Along with core
chemical engineering fundamentals, the programs include emerging areas such as Industry
4.0, digitalisation, process modelling and simulation, AI and optimisation, and
sustainable engineering practices, enabling students to solve real-world engineering
problems and contribute to sustainable development.
The department provides a strong experiential learning environment through modern
laboratories, pilot plants, and advanced simulation tools. Faculty members actively
engage in research, consultancy, and industry collaborations, exposing students
to state-of-the-art technologies and professional ethics. A strong student support
system, regular industrial visits, internships, and expert lectures, along with
an active Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers student chapter -recognized as
the Best Student Chapter in India six times since 2017 - supports holistic student
development, leadership, and lifelong learning.
Vision:
To achieve excellence in chemical engineering education and allied fields by providing
an excellent teaching learning experience that enables students to become leading
professionals capable of tackling global issues.
Mission:
1. To provide excellent technical education to students with basics of chemical
engineering.
2. To provide theoretical and practical education so that students vigorously apply
knowledge in solving chemical engineering problems for sustained development.
3. To inculcate professional ethics among students by exposing them to state of
the art technologies in the field.
4. To inspire students for lifelong learning and to develop leadership qualities
in their career.
Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)
1. To impart the fundamentals of chemical engineering and enable them to have a
successful career in wide range of core industriesr
2. To deliver quality technical education thereby developing sustainable technology
in addressing global issues.
3. To provide practical aspects of chemical engineering to the students by ways
of industrial visits, expert lectures and increased industry-institute interaction
thereby making students industry ready.
4. To prepare graduates who can effectively communicate, demonstrate leadership
qualities with creative thinking and professional ethics.
