The B.E. Chemical Technology (Dyes & Pigment Technology) program at Shroff S.R.
Rotary Institute of Chemical Technology (SRICT) is designed to develop skilled professionals
for the colorant, textile, coating, printing ink, plastics, and specialty chemical
industries. The program provides a strong foundation in chemical engineering principles
while offering specialized knowledge in the science, technology, manufacture, application,
and sustainability of dyes, pigments, and colorants.
Aligned with the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP), the curriculum
emphasizes outcome-based education, experiential learning, multidisciplinary knowledge,
and industry-oriented skill development. Students gain comprehensive understanding
of dye and pigment chemistry, color science, synthesis of colorants, textile coloration,
pigment dispersion technology, surface coatings, printing inks, quality control,
and environmental management. The program also incorporates emerging areas such
as sustainable colorant technologies, eco-friendly processing, digital colour measurement,
process simulation, Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing
practices.
The department offers a vibrant learning environment supported by modern laboratories
equipped with advanced analytical, synthesis, testing, and application facilities.
Through laboratory experiments, industrial projects, internships, and hands-on training,
students develop practical expertise in colorant production, characterization, application
technologies, and process optimization.
Faculty members actively engage in research, consultancy, and industry collaborations,
enabling students to gain exposure to contemporary developments and real-world industrial
challenges. Regular industrial visits, expert lectures, technical workshops, seminars,
and professional development activities further enhance students’ technical competence,
innovation, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
With a strong focus on sustainability, innovation, and industrial relevance, the
B.E. Chemical Technology (Dyes & Pigment Technology) program prepares graduates
to become competent professionals and future leaders capable of driving advancements
in the global colorant industry while contributing to environmentally responsible
and sustainable manufacturing practices.
