The B.E. Chemical Technology (Glass & Ceramic Technology) program at Shroff S.R.
Rotary Institute of Chemical Technology (SRICT) is designed to develop highly skilled
professionals for the glass, ceramic, refractories, advanced materials, and allied
manufacturing industries. The program combines fundamental principles of chemical
engineering and materials science with specialized knowledge in the design, processing,
characterization, and application of glass and ceramic materials.
Aligned with the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP), the curriculum
emphasizes outcome-based education, experiential learning, multidisciplinary learning,
and industry-oriented skill development. Students gain comprehensive knowledge of
glass manufacturing, ceramic processing, refractories, structural and functional
ceramics, materials characterization, quality control, and process optimization.
The program also incorporates emerging areas such as advanced ceramics, nanomaterials,
smart materials, additive manufacturing, Industry 4.0, process simulation, digitalization,
artificial intelligence, and sustainable manufacturing practices.
The department provides a robust learning environment supported by modern laboratories
equipped with facilities for material synthesis, processing, testing, and characterization.
Through hands-on laboratory work, industrial training, internships, projects, and
exposure to industrial practices, students develop practical skills and technical
expertise required for careers in glass, ceramic, and advanced materials industries.
Faculty members actively engage in research, consultancy, and industry collaborations,
enabling students to gain exposure to the latest technological developments and
real-world industrial challenges. Regular industrial visits, expert lectures, workshops,
seminars, and professional development activities further enhance students’ innovation,
leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving capabilities.
With a strong focus on sustainability, technological advancement, and industrial
relevance, the B.E. Chemical Technology (Glass & Ceramic Technology) program prepares
graduates to become competent engineers, researchers, and future leaders capable
of contributing to the development of advanced materials and modern manufacturing
industries while supporting sustainable growth and innovation.
