The B.E. Chemical Technology (Polymer & Rubber) program at Shroff S.R. Rotary Institute
of Chemical Technology (SRICT) is designed to develop highly skilled professionals
for the polymer, elastomer, plastics, and rubber processing industries. The program
combines strong scientific and engineering fundamentals with industry-oriented training
to prepare graduates capable of addressing the evolving needs of modern manufacturing,
sustainable materials, and advanced product development.
Aligned with the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP), the curriculum
emphasizes outcome-based education, experiential learning, multidisciplinary skills,
and innovation. Students gain comprehensive knowledge in polymer science, rubber
technology, polymer processing, compounding, product design, testing and characterization,
quality assurance, and manufacturing technologies. The program also integrates emerging
areas such as smart materials, sustainable polymers, recycling technologies, Industry
4.0, digital manufacturing, process simulation, and artificial intelligence applications
in polymer engineering.
The department offers an excellent learning environment supported by modern laboratories
equipped with advanced testing and processing facilities, including polymer characterization
instruments, rubber compounding equipment, and processing machines. Through hands-on
laboratory work, industrial projects, internships, and industry interactions, students
acquire practical skills and professional competence essential for successful careers
in the polymer and rubber sector.
Faculty members actively engage in research, consultancy, and collaborations with
industry, providing students with exposure to contemporary technologies and real-world
challenges. Regular industrial visits, expert lectures, technical workshops, and
professional development activities further enrich the learning experience and foster
innovation, leadership, teamwork, and lifelong learning.
With a strong focus on sustainability, technological advancement, and industry relevance,
the B.E. Chemical Technology (Polymer & Rubber) program prepares graduates to become
competent engineers, innovators, and future leaders who contribute effectively to
the growth of the polymer, plastics, and rubber industries while supporting sustainable
development goals.
